Richard’s family and I were going to have dinner at another restaurant in the area tonight but didn’t realise it closes on Tuesdays (and Mondays, too, as I later checked). We popped in to Watergrill inside Cronulla RSL nearby instead, and because the weather allowed, we chose to sit outside with a water view that I could just about see over the balcony hedges when seated.
It’s a typical RSL deal where you order at the counter, receive your buzzer, wait for the buzz, then to the counter to pick up your meal to bring to your table. I got the chicken breast stuffed with spinach and feta cheese ($24.5) and a bowl of steamed vegetable ($5)… which I have somehow managed to not capture on my phone. I did get the photos for the much more photogenic and filling surf and turf ($34) and seafood salad ($25.5) that the others ordered, though.
Richard and his brother both ordered the surf and turf, cooked to medium rare. The kitchen actually didn’t overcook the 300g scotch fillet — quite a feat for pubs, as Richard commented.
The seafood salad was one of the items I was eyeing before I decided on a different dish. Regrets! The salad came with king prawns, avocado and smoked salmon on a bunch of leafy vegetables. Looked so, so yum, but probably too small a serving for me.
Meanwhile, my chicken breast with the stuffing was delicious and I loved the Napolitana sauce on top, but the baked vegetables (potatoes, broccoli, celery, onions, etc) were overdone. There was also a penne pasta in my bowl of steamed vegetables, mysteriously.
Enjoyed the food otherwise. Thank you for the meal, R-Mum! smile
